Dear parents and students,

I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Lessons resume on January 10 as planned. (I will be calling some of you who have missed lessons to arrange a possible make up lesson.) I’m looking forward to seeing you in the studio again.

Just to be sure that we are doing as much as we can to prevent the spread of Covid, I have procured 5-layer N95 and KN95 masks that are considered to be the ultimate safeguard against airborne viruses. I am going to give one to each student at the first lesson for use in my studio. I’ve chosen a style that is both comfortable and effective.

At the end of each lesson you will put the mask in a ziplock bag that has your name on it. I will keep it here. You will use this mask each time you come for your lesson and return it to your ziplock bag. The masks are extremely comfortable to wear.

For young children I have 4-layer masks (dinosaur design) arriving approximately January 20. For the first lesson the children will continue to use the masks that they have.

We will have a fun year of piano!

Music lessons have ended for the 2020-21 instructional year. I want to thank all students for making my teaching year very enjoyable, and thank you for all abiding by my safety protocols during the pandemic. I was pleased with how many wanted to continue with the extra three or four lessons that I offered in June.

My calendar for 2021-22 is still uncertain, but it should remain very similar to this year. In the meantime if anyone has any preference for a lesson day and time, our web site has a link to pre-book your lesson time for the fall. As usual everything will be finalized in August.

We are very pleased that New Brunswick is moving back to the less restrictive Yellow Level of the Covid-19 pandemic. Here are the changes to our Covid-19 operational plan in effect as of Monday, March 8.

• Please wear a mask when entering the foyer and wait in the parlour if another student is having a lesson.
• Masks are optional while in the studio or while waiting in the parlour. Physical distancing will need to be maintained.

If anyone is feeling unwell for any reason, we are happy to reschedule your lesson.

What a year we've had! Very fortunately it doesn't appear that we'll be in a lockdown at Christmas, such as what's happening elsewhere in the world.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Christmas holiday break and a wonderful time with your families. Best wishes for a much better year in 2021.
