Music Lessons under the Orange Level

Thursday, November 26, 2020 | Uncategorized

To all students and parents,

Now that Zone 2 has gone to the Orange Level, here are the changes to our Covid-19 operational plan in effect as of Friday, November 27.

PROCEDURE FOR IN-PERSON LESSONS - ORANGE LEVEL

1. The studio door will be locked, so students will ring the doorbell and wait to be admitted.

2. A mask is mandatory when entering the foyer and at all times while in the studio or while waiting in the parlour. Physical distancing will need to be maintained at all times.

3. If you need to wait, please don’t wait in the foyer. Wait in the parlour until the studio is ready after the previous student.

Temperatures will be taken, and hand sanitizer provided as before.

We will be monitoring the situation and adjusting the protocols if necessary. If the zone goes Red it will be necessary to go back to online lessons as we did in March, and it is important to be prepared for this.

Warm regards and stay safe,
Roseanna and Detlef

Lessons end at the end of May

Tuesday, May 19, 2020 | Uncategorized

We are almost at the end of another instructional year of piano lessons. We have certainly had a major challenge this year, but with the help of communication technology we’ve managed to shift lessons to a different format. I am very happy that I was able to see students each week, even if not in person.

There are now two more weeks of lessons; the last lesson day will be May 30th. I am very proud of what all students have accomplished this year. Normally we would have a year-end recital but that is not possible this year.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone back in my studio in the fall.

Online lessons continue

Sunday, April 5, 2020 | Uncategorized

Online lessons will continue using Zoom and FaceTime for the remainder of April and possibly May, until the emergency is declared over. We are pleased that students are still able to have fun with their music and maintain continuity with their repertoire and theory. It has been an adjustment for everyone but fortunately we have the technology to be able to carry on.

Lessons will continue every week in April, and we'll use the former scheduled break April 21-25 as a make up week because most students lost a lesson March 16-20 when we were setting up our online studio. It will also be lessons as usual on Good Friday and Saturday so the Friday and Saturday students will not lose a lesson.

Social distancing does not mean social isolation, and it is more important than ever to stay connected. We can continue to experience the power of music together to reduce the stress and anxiety that many are feeling.

Best regards to everyone, and stay safe!

UPDATE on music lessons during the coronavirus pandemic

UPDATE MARCH 17 - Revised MARCH 23

I am discontinuing in-person lessons at the studio for two weeks. The lesson schedule will be extended into June.

I will be providing online lessons using Skype and FaceTime for all students in order to maintain continuity with your pieces during the pandemic. We have equipped one of the pianos with three HD webcams to let students see me, my hands on the keys, and the music or worksheets. Everyone has been contacted and provided with details.

I will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with everyone about any further changes that we need to make.

Stay safe, and let music lift your spirits!
